Parents, You Are Being Invited to Participate...
parents in their child's education is key to student achievement and
well being. And supporting student achievement and well-being is one of
the three key priorities in the school board's strategic plan.
"The evidence is consistent, positive, and convincing: families have a major influence on their children's
achievement in school and through life... The research continues to grow and build an ever-strengthening case. When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more." Henderson & Mapp, 2002.

Extra-Curricular Student Athletics, Student Accident Insurance
Our schools continue to run a fantastic range of excellent co-curricular programs for our students.
While every effort is made to complete all due diligence to ensure the care and safety of each
student, all athletic programs have the possibility of students getting injured. In many instances
many families do not have the appropriate insurance coverage to support them through the injuries.
The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board Insurance coverage does not insure these
children for injuries.
For the 2013-2014 school year, it is strongly advised that all students participating in co-curricular
sports have student accident insurance.
To secure student accident insurance for your child(ren):
1) complete the application form within the brochure (sent home in early September), and
mail it directly to Reliable Life using the postage paid return envelope along with the appropriate
payment or apply on-line at www.insuremykids.com with payment by credit card. This insurance
can be purchased at any time throughout the school year (the premium stays the same and the
end date remains the same).
2) have appropriate Extended Health and Dental coverage through another insurance carrier
i.e. workplace plan, or other personally-obtained benefit plan.
The school requires an Acknowledgement of Student Insurance form be completed for each
student participating on a school team.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office at: (705) 326-0979.

Living in Hope - Grounded in Faith
Every year, our board chooses a theme, which serves as a pastoral inspiration for our school and board office communities. Living in Hope - Grounded in Faith is the board's theme for the 2013-2014 school year. What does this theme mean to our students, families and staff? Faith and hope are closely connected because our true hope comes from believing in the promise of God. Hope, as a virtue, is much more than simple optimism. To hope is to be nurtured and sustained by a great belief, by a great ideal that is based upon a promise made by God. To hope is to live in the belief that, ultimately God will give us a world where love and peace will triumph. Hope is visible in our Catholic schools whenever we find prayer, and work for peace and justice.
