Service dogs survey

On April 4th, 2019 the provincial government launched a public consultation on service animals in schools. The Ministry of Education is now consulting on a draft Policy/Program Memorandum (PPM), School Board Policies on Service Animals until May 4th, 2019. You may access the draft PPM and survey to provide feedback online by the May 4th deadline at www.ontario.ca/page/consultation-service-animals-schools.

They encourage all school boards, families and students to contribute feedback on the topic of service animals in schools and classrooms.

The Minister of Education with the support ofBill 48, the Safe and Supportive Classrooms Act, 2019 amends the Education Act so that policies and guidelines respecting service animals in schools can now be established.  Boards will be required to comply with the policies and guidelines.

Human Trafficking Presentation

This is a reminder that on Tuesday May 7, in the Notre Dame library, from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, your school council is sponsoring a presentation on Human Trafficking.  Ashley LeClair, formally from the Children's Advocacy Office, will presenting information on the subject which is both relevant and local in nature.

We ask that because of the nature of the subject content the audience be restricted to adults and students in grade 9 and above.

We hope to see you there.
